Publication Frequency

The Journal of Sociology in East and Horn of Africa follows a Continuous Publication model designed to facilitate the timely dissemination of high-quality scholarly research.

Under this publishing model, accepted manuscripts are published individually online immediately after they have successfully completed the journal's editorial workflow, including editorial assessment, double-blind peer review, revisions (where applicable), copyediting, proofreading, typesetting, and final author approval. Articles are therefore published without waiting for the completion of an entire issue.

Online Publication

All accepted articles are published online on a rolling basis throughout the year. Each article is assigned its final bibliographic details and, where applicable, a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), making it immediately citable and permanently accessible upon publication.

Print Publication

In addition to online publication, articles are compiled into print issues at scheduled intervals. The print edition serves as the official archival version of the journal while reflecting the articles that have already been published online under the continuous publication model.

Editorial and Peer Review Process

Every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes an initial editorial screening followed by a rigorous double-blind peer review process conducted by independent experts. Publication is contingent upon the successful completion of peer review, editorial evaluation, required revisions, and final approval by the Editor-in-Chief.

Benefits of Continuous Publication

  • Timely dissemination of new research findings.
  • Reduced time between manuscript acceptance and publication.
  • Immediate citation and indexing of published articles.
  • Timely access to current sociological research for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers.

The journal is committed to publishing high-quality research efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of editorial quality, peer review, and publication ethics.
