Current Research in Communication (CRC) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing high-quality scholarship in communication, media, journalism, and related fields. The journal provides a platform for original research, review articles, short communications, theoretical papers, and interdisciplinary studies that contribute to understanding contemporary communication processes, media systems, technologies, institutions, cultures, and societies.

Open Access and Licensing

Current Research in Communication operates under a Gold Open Access model. All published articles are immediately and permanently available online free of charge to readers, with no access restrictions.

License: Content is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-l 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. This permits users to read, share, distribute, and reproduce published material in any medium, provided appropriate credit is given to the original author and source and the material is not used for commercial purposes.


Publication Frequency

The journal follows a Continuous Publication model. Articles are published online as soon as they successfully complete editorial assessment, double-blind peer review, revision, copyediting, and final production.

Processing times vary depending on manuscript quality, reviewer availability, and the time taken by authors to respond to editorial and peer-review recommendations. The average period from submission to online publication is approximately 2 to 5 months.


Copyright and Author Rights

Authors retain copyright of their published work. By publishing with Current Research in Communication, authors grant the journal the right to publish, distribute, archive, and display their articles under the applicable Creative Commons license.

Authors may share and reuse their work in accordance with the terms of the journal's licensing and publishing policies.


Archiving and Digital Preservation

Current Research in Communication supports the long-term preservation and accessibility of published scholarly content through recognized digital preservation practices, including LOCKSS and CLOCKSS where enabled.

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are assigned to published articles to provide persistent identification and reliable scholarly linking. The journal follows PKP and OJS standards supporting sustainable digital publishing, metadata preservation, and scholarly archiving.

Journal History

Established in 2025, Current Research in Communication was founded to provide a contemporary international platform for research addressing the rapidly changing communication and media environment.

The journal seeks to bring together scholarship from Africa and the wider global research community while encouraging theoretical, empirical, methodological, and interdisciplinary approaches to communication research. CRC is particularly interested in emerging questions surrounding digital transformation, journalism, media institutions, communication technologies, culture, organizations, and social change.
