About the Journal

The East African Journal of  Climate and Resilience  is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing empirical and theoretical research on climate change and environmental issues and development trends in East, Horn of Africa and comparable regions. The journal provides a platform for scholars, economists, practitioners, and policymakers to share high-quality, policy-relevant work that deepens understanding of  climate change communities across the region.

Focus and Scope

The journal covers a wide range of topics including but not limited to:

  • Climate adaptation & mitigation
  • Disaster & climate shock reduction 

  •  Community resilience

  •  Ecosystem sustainability

  • Environmental policy & governance

  • Climate-smart livelihoods

Interdisciplinary approaches combining climate with environmental studies, carbon marker, climate justice or governance are also encouraged.


Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All content is freely accessible without subscription or payment barriers.

Articles published in the journal are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). This permits non-commercial use, sharing, and adaptation of the work, provided the original authors and source are properly cited.

Archiving and Digital Preservation

The Journal of Eastern African Macroeconomics and Development is committed to long-term preservation of its content. The journal participates in both the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) archival systems, ensuring permanent access and availability of all articles.

Personal data such as author names, affiliations, and email addresses submitted to the journal website will be used exclusively for the stated editorial and publication purposes. The journal does not share personal data with third parties without consent.


Article Processing Charges (APCs)

To support open access publishing and maintain editorial operations, the journal charges a reasonable Article Processing Charge (APC) of 55USD payable only upon acceptance of a manuscript. Pricing change or fee waivers are considered in some situation.

Founded in 2025, the East African Journal of  Climate and Resilience  was created to fill a critical gap in academic publishing for region-specific climate research. It aims to elevate African perspectives in global climate change discourse and foster knowledge production that informs policy and practice.
