Sigu Pavel is a Policing and Security Analysis Expert working both as a lecturer of Criminology at Technical University of Kenya and a Director of Research at Technofox Ltd. He holds a Ph.D. in Criminology and Security Studies from Chuka University. Further, he holds a Master of Arts with a concentration in Criminology and Social Order from the University of Nairobi and a first-class honours degree in Criminology (Security and Forensic Investigation Option) from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. Working within the University and industry, he has become a well-versed researcher, security practitioner, and data analyst.

Dr. Sigu has taught Criminology, Security Management, Security Risk Analysis, Crime Investigations, and Crime Policy at Technical University of Kenya, Murang’a University of Technology, and KCA University. His additional trainings in risk assessment (SRMP-C), data analysis with Google, and writing policy briefs elevates his crime analysis capabilities. Sigu has also consulted for the National Crime Research Centre (NCRC), Curriculum Development Assessment and Certification Council (CDACC), and Kenya School of Government (KSG) in the areas of security management, research, and curriculum development and evaluation.

Policing strategies, crime and investigations, applied research, crime data analysis, and crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) are his main areas of research. Broadly however, Dr. Sigu is versatile and believes that solving social problems today requires collaborations and sometimes inter and multidisciplinary approaches. He is currently working on a book titled “Crime Investigations in the Era of AI”. His previous publications include:

Sigu is passionate about quality, safety, and the use of data in driving decisions. If there is anything that has honestly transformed his life, the answer must be service and value in all his undertakings. He believes that every human goal can be achieved if only followed by determination, thirst for knowledge, and genuine hard work. He enjoys cycling.
