The East African Journal of Early Childhood Education is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing research on early childhood development, learning, and education policy in East and the Horn of Africa. The journal provides a platform for scholars, educators, and policymakers to share high-quality, evidence-based work that informs practice and supports the holistic development of young children across the region.

Focus and Scope

The journal covers topics including, but not limited to:

  • Early childhood development and learning outcomes

  • Pedagogical methods and curriculum design

  • Inclusive and equitable education practices

  • Teacher training and professional development

  • Education policy and program evaluation

  • Family and community engagement in early learning

Interdisciplinary research combining education with psychology, social development, health, or governance is also encouraged.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available supports global knowledge exchange. Articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), allowing non-commercial use, sharing, and adaptation with proper attribution.

Article Processing Charges (APCs)

To support open-access publishing, the journal charges a reasonable Article Processing Charge (APC) of 55 USD, payable only upon acceptance. Fee waivers or adjustments may be considered in special circumstances.

Journal History

Founded in 2025, the East African Journal of Early Childhood Education aims to strengthen research and policy dialogue on early learning in the region, elevating African perspectives in global education discourse.
